Singer/songwriter Gillian Welch is accustomed to going her own way. When Universal Music Group acquired her first label, Almo Sounds, she started her own imprint, Acony Records, based in Nashville. So when Welch and her musical partner, David Rawlings, wanted their catalogs—and Acony’s albums—on vinyl, it should come as no surprise the two decided to do it their way. Of course, nothing worth doing right is ever easy.
